FAMILY MOVIE GOOD MUSIC
Beautiful song by Varma Malick – like Shyamji Ghanshyamji, Varma Malick is also a single person but in this case with two popular Indian Surnames.
Can somebody guess who did the “Auoon Unhoon Ahoon” in this song.
1. Mahendra Kapoor
2. Kalyanji
3. Anandji
4. None of them.
I have come to know about the sad demise of Sh. Varma Malick from the following news on web from The Hindu dtd 19.3.09: –
“Mumbai (PTI): Noted lyricist Verma Malik, who penned several popular songs of the 1970s and 80s like ‘Aaj Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’, (Aadmi Sadak ka), ‘Do Bechare’ (Victoria No 203) passed away here. The end for Malik, who was 83, came at his Juhu residence on Sunday.
“He passed away peacefully,” family sources said. Malik was born on April 13, 1925 in Ferozepur, Pakistan. The lyricist, who was also a freedom fighter, began by penning bhajans and also wrote several patriotic songs. After partition, he moved to India and began writing songs for Punjabi films.
Actor-filmmaker Manoj Kumar gave him his first break in Bollywood when he wrote ‘Ek Tara Bole’ (Yaadgar). Following its success, there was no looking back for Malik. ‘Yashoda Ka Nandlala’ (Sanjog), ‘Hai Hai Yeh Majboori’ (Roti, Kapda aur Makan), ‘Tere Sang Pyar Mein’ (Nagin), ‘Kaan Mein Jhumka Chaal Mein Thumka’ (Saawan Bhadon) were some of his popular songs.
Malik’s close friend and music director Pyarelal said he was a simple, calm man who was happy and proud of the work he had done. “He was unique in a way that he could blend shayari and folk songs very well,” Pyarelal said.”
With a saddened mood I am disclosing that it was Varma Malick himself who did Ahoon Uhoon Ahoon. I myself heard him doing this in an interview with Sh. Ameen Sayani, wherein he also told how he got the name VARMA MALICK.
